W124 - Early build parts

Most people would credit the W124 as having introduced the combined interior light/suroof switch/seat belt reminder assembly. However, the very first cars had the older style as shown below. The change occurred some time around the change to the 1986 model year and the introduction of the series 2 W126.

There is also a variation in the air conditioner switch, with an early version showing the rotary dial at the centre, as per the previous W123 series:

The design of the vents also changed. It is unknown whether this and the dial above were simply pre-production versions or whether early production versions featured these parts.

Finally, the electric window switches featured an icon reminiscent of the switches found in early 80s Mercedes, however the switch itself is a new design:
